Wagerup Power Station is a 2x 196MW dual natural gas and distillate fuelled power station co-located at Alcoa’s Wagerup refinery in south-west Western Australia. Located about 130 km south of Perth. The Wagerup BESS Project is located within the boundary of the power station. The project was the design and construct the 330kV Gas Insulated Sub Building used to house the 16 containers of inverters and 128 containers of batteries for the project.

Scope of Work

SIMPEC were chosen by SEPD for supply and installation of the GIS Building for the Wagerup BESS.

The principal components for the GIS Building include:

  • Detailed civil works
  • Concrete Foundations – piles, ground slab, suspended concrete slab
  • Supply and installation of structural steelwork
  • Supply installation of purlins/girts, handrail, grid mesh
  • Supply and installation of insulation, sheeting, and other building finishing works
  • Supply/installation and fit out of internal walls/doors for control room
  • Installation and load testing of overhead crane
  • Supply and installation of electrical works including lighting, power, fire system, PA, communications etc
  • Supply installation of cable, ladder and conduit
  • Construction Verification and Commissioning
